What is an aircraft charter? When you charter an aircraft, all the seats belong to you and your party. As opposed to buying a ticket on a scheduled carrier, air charter allows you to set your own schedule.
What are the advantages of a private charter? The main advantages of a private charter is convenience, service, fun (Limos are better than buses, right?), and accessibility. Many times in Northern Alberta, there is no other easy way to get where you're going. Northern Air isn't late, we don't overbook, and we have never lost a bag.
How is the cost of air charter calculated? You are paying for the entire aircraft! If you fill all the seats on your charter (or even most of them), you will find that the price per seat is similar to the scheduled carriers, and is usually less! You will have the convenience, extra service, and enjoyment of flying in your own aircraft on your own schedule. In larger centres you will also avoid the time consuming, crowded, and costly passenger terminals.
Is it safe? Yes. Reputable air charter companies have an excellent safety record. We train our pilots and maintain our aircraft to the strictest Transport Canada and Alberta Health Air Ambulance standards.

How old are the pilots? Age isn't really the issue with pilots as there are great pilots of all ages. All Northern Air pilots meet the stringent safety, experience, and training standards of Transport Canada and Alberta Health. All Northern Air pilots receive simulator training in addition to in-house company training. Each pilot receives this training initially and on a yearly basis. A complete physical examination, by a Transport Canada approved medical examiner, is also required every year.
How old is Northern Air? Northern Air has been Proudly serving the Peace Country since 1984.
Why does the charter company need to know passenger and baggage weights? All aircraft have a maximum useful load that is divided between pilots, passengers, baggage and fuel. To carry more of one thing there must be less of another. The operations department needs to know these weights in order to make sure the aircraft is properly loaded and within its maximum takeoff weight and envelope.
How much luggage can we bring?
In most situations, 25 lbs. per person can be carried aboard any Northern Air charter. If there are any luggage restrictions or concerns, our operations department will inform you of them. |
Can we bring our skis, scuba tanks, etc.? Any large, heavy, or potentially hazardous objects or materials must be discussed with the operations department in advance of the charter. We can specially configure our aircraft to carry skis, scuba tanks, and other equipment. Scuba tanks are also considered a Dangerous Good and will need prior approval.
How will we find our charter connection in Peace River, Alberta? meeting instructions are always arranged in advance with our charter customers. In Peace River our large, well marked, hangar is just down the hangar line from the Peace River Passenger Terminal. At other destinations, the passengers are met by our flight crews at a specified location.
How do we know Northern Air will show up? That's what Northern Air does. We pride ourselves on providing our charter customers with a superior level of safety, service, and comfort at every step of the air charter process.
How can we pay for an air charter flight? We accept credit cards, international money orders, wire transfers and checks. In order to hold a charter, Northern Air must have a valid credit card, receive full payment, or make other arrangements before the charter will commence.
Are there cancellation penalties? No, as long as a charter is cancelled 48 hours before departure, there is no cancellation penalty.
